Lawrence Mills 1869 - 1954

Lawrence was the son of Thomas Mills (1825-1908) and Lucretia Barton Mills (1828-1910). He was born on 15 March 1869 in Posey County, Indiana, USA.

Lawrence married Estella "Stella" Allyn (1872-1947) in Posey County on 7 August 1890. No children are known to have been born to this union.

Lawrence married Clara Belle Rowland Ing (1880-1968) in Los Angeles, California on 5 February 1950. No children are known to have been born to this union.

Lawrence first showed up in the census in 1870 in Robinson Township in Posey County. (census image here) (View neighbors in html)

As of the 1880 census, Lawrence and his parents showed up once more in Robinson Township. His older siblings Felix, Allen, Rachel, and Joseph were still living at home, the siblings older than those four had all gotten married and moved out. His younger brother Lee was still there as well, along with nephew Lawrence (Felix's son) who was about a year old at that time. (census image here) (View neighbors in HTML)

Lawrence married Stella Allyn in 1890 and by 1900 he and Stella were living in Gallatin County, Illinois, where they were found in North Fork Township. (census image here)

By 1910 Lawrence and Stella were back in Posey County, this time living in Mount Vernon. Lawrence's niece Edith Pickles showed up with the couple (one of his sister Rachel's daughters) although, oddly enough, she also showed up with her family at home in Gallatin County. (census image here)

By 1920 Lawrence and Stella had moved to Monterey Park in Los Angeles County, California. (census image here)

Lawrence and Stella were still in Monterey Park in 1930, where they lived for the rest of their lives. (census image here)

Stella died in 1947 and was buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.

Lawrence married Clara Ing in 1950. He died on 24 July 1954, supposedly in Monterey Park, although I have been unable to confirm this in the California Death Index. He was interred in a wall crypt at Rose Hills next to Stella. Clara died in 1968 and is buried in a plot at Rose Hills next to her first husband Almon Ing.
