Nancy Ann Aldridge (alternate spellings: Aldrich, Aldredge, Alldridge, Alldredge, etc.) was born ca. 1843 in Posey County, Indiana. USA. She was the daughter of Aaron Aldridge (ca. 1796-After 1860) and Charity Bird Webb Aldridge (ca. 1802-After 1860).
She married Gilbert Venable (1842-1866) in Posey County on 11 October 1863. No children are known to have been born to this union.
After Gilbert's death in 1866, she married Wilson Barton (ca. 1841-1886) on 26 September 1867 in Posey County. They had the following children:
William B. Barton (1870-After 1870)
Alvin P. Barton (ca. 1872-After 1880)
Daughter Barton (1875-1875)
Nancy first appeared in the 1850 census in Black Township in Posey County. (census image here)
She next appeared with her family in Lynn Township in Posey County. (census image here)
The next census that Nancy showed up in was the 1870 census in Robinson Township in Posey County, along with her husband Wilson and son William (or B. William). (census image here)
Nancy died on 22 February 1875 in Posey County, probably in childbirth with an unnamed daughter who was stillborn or died with her. I have been unable to determine where she is buried.
Her husband Wilson remarried in 1876 to Sarah Moore. He died in 1886 and is buried in the Samuel Jones Cemetery in Marrs Township, Posey County. I have not been able to determine what happened to their sons William and Alvin. It seems likely that William died as an infant. I have not been able to find any record of Alvin after the 1880 census.
Many thanks to Charles Venable for his research on Nancy. I was stumped finding more information on her and he graciously took the time to track her down and email me his findings.
