Lourania Barton was born on 1 January 1860 in Posey County, Indiana, USA, the daughter of William Barton and Nancy Green Duckworth Barton.

She married George William Oliver (1859-1914) on 24 November 1881 in Posey County. They had the following children:

Fannie Oliver (1882-1955)
Burel Oliver (1886-1912)
Rena Pearl Oliver (1889-1962)
Jesse Raymond Oliver (1894-1919)

Lourrania first showed up with her family in the 1870 census in Robinson Township, Posey County, Indiana, USA. She should show up in the 1860 census based on her birth date, but I have been unable to find her in the earlier census.(census image here) (View neighbors in HTML)

In the 1880 census in Lynn Township in Posey County, Lourania showed up with her half-brother Samuel Barton's family. (census image here).

Lourania married George Oliver in 1881 and the two of them were found in the 1900 census in Center Township in Posey County. Between the 1880 census and 1900, all four of the couple's children (that I know of) had been born and were in the household by the latter date. Fannie's birth date is stated correctly in the census but her age is undercounted by seven or eight years for some reason. A local boy of 26 named Green Blackburn was also living with the family and listed as a servant, although something more may have been going on because later that year Fannie ended up marrying Green's younger brother Arthur. (census image here)

1910 found the family still living in Center Township, although slightly diminished in size. Fannie was gone, as I mentioned earlier, having married Arthur Chester Blackburn in 1900. Fannie may have been out of the house, but she wasn't that far awy. The census shows Fannie and Arthur and their children as the next family on the page.(census image here)

Between 1910 and 1920 there was a tectonic shift in the family's circumstances and what must have been great tragedy. In 1912 the oldest son Burel died and was buried at Mount Zion Cemetery in Posey County. I don't have enough knowledge of the family to understand what happened next, but the rest of the family moved to Weld County, Colorado around the same time period. I don't know if they moved before or after Burel's death. George died in 1914 and is buried in Hillside Cemetery in Fort Lupton, Colorado. Jesse is listed as serving in the Army during WWI, I don't know if he died on active duty or not, but he died in 1919 and is buried near his father.

Within a span of seven years, all the men in the family were gone. By the time of the 1920 census, Lourania and Rena Pearl were the only ones left, still in Fort Lupton. Fannie and her husband Arthur never moved away from Posey County, but the couple had at least nine children who might have been some consolation to their grandmother. (census image here)

Lourania died on 21 January 1927 in Weld County. She is buried next to one of her sons and her husband in Hillside Cemetery.

Rena Pearl died in 1962, presumably in Colorado, and is buried next to most of the rest of her family in Hillside Cemetery. I have never found any evidence that she married. As of the 1930 census in Fort Lupton she was still single, and her headstone only shows her maiden name.
