William B. Barton 1870-After 1870
William B. Barton (or B. William Barton) was born around February 1870 in Posey County, Indiana, USA. He was the son of Wilson Barton (ca. 1841-1886) and Nancy Venable Barton.
The only census that William definitively showed up in was the 1870 census in Robinson Township in Posey County, along with his parents. His name was rendered in the census as B. William but I suspect he was named after his paternal grandfather William Bradford Barton so I believe the correct order would have been "William B.". William's parents are on the census page immediately prior to his (census image here), while he shows up at the beginning of the next page, just before his grandfather William. There is no other historical record of William, I have not been able to find out when or where he died or where he was buried. His mother Nancy died around 1875, most likely in Posey County, and his father Wilson remarried in 1876 to Sarah Moore. William does not show up in the 1880 census with his father and with Sarah (who would have been his stepmother if he were alive) nor does he show up with his grandfather's family. If I could locate his mother Nancy's family he might be found with them, but have been unable to do so. It is likely that he died between the 1870 and 1880 censuses and so passed from the scene. His father Wilson died in 1886 and is buried in Samuel Jones Cemetery in Marrs Township, Posey County.
