Lucretia Culley was born ca. 1809 in Sumner County, Tennessee, the daughter of Thomas Culley (1785-1849) and Elizabeth Canaday (1787-1865).

Lucretia married George Tillman Downen (1805-1880) in Posey County, Indiana, on 27 October 1825. They had the following children:

Thomas Downen (1827-1904)
Jane Downen (1829-1907)
Timothy Downen (1830-1898)
Elizabeth Downen (1833-1871)
Ester Downen (1835-1920)
Mary Magdalene Downen (1837-1913)
Rachel Downen (1840-1940)
Lucretia Downen (1842-1929)
George Tillman Downen (1844-1911)

Lucretia's husband George showed up in the 1830 census for Robinson Township of Posey County. He was listed under his middle name, Tillman. (census image here)

In 1840 George was still going by Tillman, still in Robinson Township, so the couple can be presumed to be there, along with most if not all of their children. I would guess all as I only know of seven kids up to that point and there are eight people listed in the census under age 20, although of course we don't know if all of them are George and Lucretia's children. Lucretia died on 13 February 1845 in Posey County, probably in Robinson Township. Her tombstone in the Timothy Downen Cemetery indicated that her age at the time of her death was around 36.

George remarried the next year to Ann Owens, and had five daughters with her. He died in 1880 and is buried with Lucretia in the Timothy Downen Cemetery. Lucretia never lived to see any of them but she became a grandmother and great-grandmother many times over. Her oldest daughter Jane didn't marry until eight months after Lucretia's death, and she was the first of the children to marry.
