Joseph Downen 1861-1898
Joseph Downen was born on 8 October 1861 in Posey County, Indiana, USA, the son of William Downen and Rutha Maria Gwaltney Downen.

By the time of the 1880 census Joseph was no longer living with his family (who had moved to Mount Vernon, Indiana, still within Posey County) but I have not found him listed in the census. I have also not found his name listed in the marriage records of Posey County.
Joseph died on 23 December 1898 in Posey County and is buried in the Kissick/Downen Cemetery in Posey County, near his parents.
