Elizabeth Oliver
Elizabeth was the daughter of Wilson Jones (1793-1854) and Elizabeth Downen (1797-1895). She was born in Illinois on 17 April 1824, possibly in Wayne County, which is listed as a birthplace for her younger sister Margaret in some records.
She married Job Oliver on 24 December 1843 in Posey County, Indiana, USA. They had the following children:
William Oliver (1844-1924)
Thompson Oliver (1846-1887)
Cynthia Oliver (1848-1876)
Wilson Oliver (1852-1921)
Charles Oliver (1853-After 1870)
Samuel Oliver (1854-1944)
Elizabeth and Job are listed in the 1850 census in Robinson Township, Posey County, Indiana, USA (census image here) (View neighbors in HTML)
Elizabeth died on 30 December 1855 and was buried in Kissick or Downen Cemetery in Posey County.
There is some confusion over which Elizabeth Oliver is buried at Kissick Cemetery due to the transcription that was published in Carroll Cox's Posey Couny Cemetery Records 1814 - 1979. On page 178 under Kissick it lists OLIVER, Elizabeth, wife of J., died, April 17, 1824, Aged 31 yrs, 8 mo. 12 da. If this were in fact the death date this grave would almost certainly be that of Elizabeth Barton Oliver who was born in 1793. However, calculating the birth date from the dates and age given arrives at a birth date for Elizabeth Barton Oliver which is off by one year and one month. There is a slightly different transcription published in Darlene McConnell's Missions Accomplished Vol. III, which on page 24 lists OLIVER, Elizabeth wife J., born 4/17/1824 died 31y 8m 13d. I did not add the underline under the word "born", Darlene did, which indicates to me she was trying to emphasize an error she had found in the Cox book.
In any event, Elizabeth didn't live long enough to see any of them but her children had at least 23 children of their own, making her a grandmother many times over. Job remarried in 1857 and he and the family prospered. Job outlived his second wife also and finally died at the age of 90 in 1911.
