According to the 1900 census, Caledonia Parks was born in March 1843 in Tennessee, USA. I have been unable to find out who her parents were or where she lived before 12 November 1861 when she married Job Barton in Posey County, Indiana. In the 1860 census of Saline County, Illinois, there is a Martha C. Parks listed who was born in Tennessee, but I have no idea if this is Caledonia or someone else (for those interested, the parents of this family were William and Rose Parks and the census area was Township 9 Range 5 E of Saline County).
Job and Caledonia had the following children:
Thomas Barton (1862 - Unknown)
Mary Barton (1863 - 1918)
Margaret Barton (1864 - 1886)
Willis Sherman Barton (1866 - Unknown)
John H. Barton (1872 - 1956)
As of the 1880 census, Job and Caledonia lived in Lynn Township, Posey County, Indiana, USA (census image here)
Job died between 29 June 1880 and 15 June 1900, the only record of this I can find is that Caledonia listed herself as a widow in the 1900 census, where she and her two youngest sons are found living in Center Township, Posey County. (census image here)
In 1910 Caledonia was still living in Center Township, Posey County, along with Willis Sherman and John H. Barton, but John had married Etta Reed, had two children and was listed as the head of the household. (census image here)
I had not been able to find Caledonia in the 1920 census but finally stumbled on her living with her son Willis in Center township in 1920. (census image here)
I have not been able to find any record of her death or find her listed in the Posey County cemetery records I have access to although her son John, his wife Etta and his son Willis appear to be buried in the Kissick or Downen Cemetery in Posey County.
