Amanda Powell Stallings
Amanda Stallings
Amanda was the daughter of Manolen (?) Powell (ca. 1833-(1862-1867)) and Mary Keeling Powell (1833-1894). She was born in September 1862 in Posey County, Indiana.
She married John Stallings (1859-1903) on 27 January 1881 in Posey County. They had the following children:
Nina M. Stallings (1882-1952)
Homer Powell Stallings (1884-1958)
Roy Stallings (1890-1891)
Amanda first showed up in the census in 1870 in Robinson Township of Posey County. Her mother Mary married Timothy Downen in 1867 and the Downen and Powell households were combined. (census image here) (View neighbors in html)
Her sister Julia married Otis Mills in 1879 but Amanda was still at home with her mother and stepfather for the 1880 census. (census image here)
Amanda married John Stallings in 1881 and the couple and two of their children showed up in the census for the first time in New Harmony, Indiana. (census image here)
In 1901 Nina married Edwin Martin in Posey County, at some point before 1910 she and her husband moved to Chicago, where they showed up in the 1910 census, and later to Luna County, New Mexico. John died in 1903 and was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Posey County.

By 1920 Amanda and Homer had moved to Indianapolis, where they showed up in the census there. My guess is the two spent the rest of their lives there, based on the census and burial records. (census image here)

Amanda died in 1931 and is buried next to John and their infant son Roy in Maple Hill Cemetery. Homer apparently never married; he died in 1958 and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. Nina died in 1963 and is buried with her husband Edwin in Mountain View Cemetery in Luna County, New Mexico.
