Theresa Griffith (1915-2010)

Theresa Griffith, 94, of Norris City passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at 2:00 am at Westside Healthcare in Indianapolis. She was born September 25, 1915 in Norris City, IL the daughter of Ernest Otto and Maude (Bruce) Allen. Theresa married Thurman Spence in April 1934 and together ran the Norris City Lumber Company. She later married William Baley "Bud" Griffith on June 28, 1962 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2002. Theresa worked as an inspector at Ainsbrook Garmet Factory for 10 years. Theresa was a life long member of Albion Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Norris City.

Theresa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Charles "Skip" Gossett of Speedway, IN; two granddaughters and spouses, Tricia and Tim Brown and Caroline and Steve Cork; four great-grandchildren, Chris and Ben Brown and Danny and Abby Cork; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and a sister, Frances Allen on December 17, 2004.

Funeral Services for Theresa Griffith, 94, of Norris City will be Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call at the Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City on Monday June 21, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Mahlen Hunt (1943-2010)

Mahlen Hunt, 67, of Norris City passed away at 5:30 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2010 at his son's residence near Sesser, IL. Mahlen was born on May 8, 1943 in Stockton, CA the son of Charles Garen and Ethel Rose (McCabe) Hunt. Mr. Hunt served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. He was a self-employed carpenter.

He is survived by a daughter, Penny Barton, of Norris City; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Teresa Hunt of Sesser and John Wayne Hunt stationed in Japan; five grandchildren, Josh and Morgan Hunt, Logan Hunt, Brianne Barton and Jacee Barton, and three brothers and a sister all out west.

Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Mackenzie Hunt.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, with Roger Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in Ditney Ridge Cemetery near Norris City. Friend may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.

Scott Wheeler 1955-2010

Scott Wheeler, 55, of Carmi passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 1:55 pm at Phoenix Rehab and Nursing. Scott was born August 28, 1955 in Carmi, the son of Aubrey and Barbara Ann (Pollard) Wheeler. He was a 1973 graduate of Carmi Township High School and had worked in the automotive and manufacturing industries. Scott is survived by his daughter Lori Wheeler of Nashville, TN; a sister and brother-in-law, Gayla and David Nelson of Carmi; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Becky Wheeler of Norris City and Aubrey D. "Bean" and Michelle Wheeler of Eldorado; a sister-in-law, Heather Smith of Carmi and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Wheeler, mother Barbara Ann Norris and brother Ed Smith. Funeral Services for Scott Wheeler, 55, of Carmi will be Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with the Rev. Robert Pollard officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday. Memorial Contributions may be made in Scott's memory to The Phoenix Foundation and will be accept at the funeral home.
