Biographical or other information about the person

https://mills-sfv.com/Genealogy/GLS/People/Text/382630.txt

Born Mabel C. Carpenter, this is the name she had in 1920 at the age of 18. I haven't found her in the 1930 census and I have no idea exactly when she married Bernard McGarry, but by 1940 the two were married and she was going by the name Gene rather than Mabel. This is how she shows up in the CADI (there is no listing for her as Mabel) although her marker says Mabel rather than Gene. Even more confusingly, there is an additional CADI entry for her as "Eugene" McGarry which does correctly list her as a female, but it's odd as Eugene is normally a man's name.

I did a bit of research here to make sure all my ducks were in a row. Mabel is Gene and Gene is Mabel, make of it what you will.
