Biographical or other information about the person

His army enlistment records appear to have his surname garbled as Rifkards instead of Rickards. He enlisted at Camp Gordon Johnston in Florida. His army serial number was 38110627, he enlisted as an NCO, and his branch of service was listed as the Philippine Scouts, which implies the Army intended to send him to the Pacific Theatre.

His casualty record shows his death as "DNB" (non combat death) and his rank as TEC5. Frustratingly enough, it does not show his date of death or where he died. Under the casualty reports grouped by state that were created after the end of World War II, he is grouped with other casualties from Denver, Colorado, which was considered his hometown.

Someone on Family Search thought he died in India but there is no source for this whatsoever. His Find A Grave memorial places his death in the USA, but this is by a contributor who is known to put information on records without doing any research or having any idea what's correct or not (in other words, he just makes shit up because he is too lazy to research most people). I haven't found any obituaries or death notices to narrow things down at all. It is likely there is more information in the military records but as I have not done much work with those I really don't know where to start. So for now what is here is what I have.
