His surname flip flops between Staudinger and Standinger in the paper records. My guess is it was pronounced like Standinger in English (it's a German surname) but spelled Staudinger. The marker shows Staudinger but the CADI, his death certificate and the Forest Lawn website all show Standinger.

Barto is not part of his surname in any of the paper records, only the marker. His mother's second husband was named Fred Barto but she didn't marry Fred until Raymond was 17 or 18, so I don't know if he even thought of Fred as a stepfather or not. My guess is that Fred or his money paid for the marker so he or Ray's mother decided to put Barto on the marker following Staudinger.
