The CADI says he died in Alpine County, CA, but LA city records show he died there. He was living in LA in April 1940 two months before he died, so that seems more likely. CADI also has his birth year listed as 1920 not 1921 which also seems to be an error.

2021/09/17. In the two years since I added this man to the database I've found out more about the information in the California county death records vs. the California state death index. I know for a fact now that when a person's body was received in Los Angeles County for burial, that an entry was made for them in the Los Angeles county death records, even if they died outside of LA county or even outside the state of California. I have seen this several dozen times so far, and as I continue researching people I will probably see it hundreds more times.

As for why this man's information shows up in the LA county records when he is buried in Louisiana, the only thing I can think of is that his body passed through LA county (either for mortuary handling or for a local funeral service) and was shipped out again, and that also triggered the entry for the LA county death records. So I now believe he actually did die in Alpine county and the state death index entry for him is correct (with the exception of the birth year, which I noted above).
