There were two different William Reeses from Minnesota incarcerated at Andersonville in 1864, this one and William Stanley or Stanley William Reese, who was moved to the Florence Stockade in South Carolina and presumably died there. Both were members of the 9th Minnesota Infantry Regiment, this one was in Company E and the other one was in Company H.

I have tried researching this soldier without much luck. He was supposedly born in Wales and joined the army at Mankato in Blue Earth County, Minnesota. I have only found three people from Wales with the surname Reese in Blue Earth County in the 1860 census and none of them appear to be him (the other three were not grouped together, they were all in separate households, so I can't even find a Reese family from Wales in that county in 1860).
