HARRIETT T. BERRY Born October 6, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland. Passed away peacefully on September 6, 2004 in Northridge. Harriett grew up in Baltimore and moved to the San Fernando Valley after WWII. She was a devout Catholic, humanitarian and she served her country. She served a tour of duty in the United States Army Nurses Corps as a Lieutenant in Europe under General George Patton and was awarded the Bronze Star for her service in the war. After her discharge Harriett was a Registered Nurse at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica for 30 years. She was lovingly taken care of by Thelma Henderson's niece, Pat Renaud of Granada Hills, for the last 20 years of her life. Harriett was preceded in death by her mother, Christine (nee Maulbe) Berry; father, Frank A. Berry; sister, Christine Dubinsky; brother, Frank Berry; and her companion of over 50 years, Thelma Henderson. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 9, 2004, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Utter McKinley San Fernando Mission Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon, on Friday, September 10, 2004, at the San Fernando Mission Rey in Mission Hills, with burial to follow in San Fernando Mission Cemetery.

(editor's note from Chris Mills - some of the names are garbled in the obituary. Harriett's mother's maiden name was Mauthe not Maulbe, and her sister Christine's married name was Dulinsky not Dubinsky. I don't know if any other names are garbled but I know those two are.)
