When I scraped the Forest Lawn website in 2011 and 2012, the verbiage on the entry for Dr. Russell seemed to indicate that his entry was a cenotaph and not a burial. However, since someone has found his marker in 2022 and posted an entry on find a grave, there is no indication on his marker that it is a cenotaph, and when I went back to the entry on the Forest Lawn website there is no verbiage now indicating that the entry is for a cenotaph. Hence, I am removing that information from his database record.

Doctor Russell's death made the national news, this story or a variation on it were reported in numerous newspapers across the country.

Fraud case defendant dies in 10-story plunge

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) -- A defendant in a bankruptcy fraud trial plunged to his death from the 10th floor of a hotel before the jury could reach a verdict. Dr. John Bussell, 55, apparently committed suicide, police said.

A motorist had called police Tuesday after seeing the Beverly Hills anesthesiologist dangling from a hotel balcony.

Bussell, his wife and their lawyer were indicted in a case involving more than $1 million in unpaid taxes. His wife told police her husband was despondent over the case.

If he had been convicted, he could have been sentenced to 95 years in prison and $4.25 million in fines.
